The number of dairy goats in China ranks first in the world, but for a long time China's dairy goats have low yields, insufficient number of good breeds, inefficient seed breeding systems, low industrialization, and potential safety hazards in the quality of raw milk, and goat milk products are of a single species. In response to the above problems, the research team headed by Prof. Luo Jun, the chief expert of the project, began to learn from advanced breeding methods and practices of dairy goats in 2007 and integrated the individual technology of milk goat production in China. Through the establishment of dairy goat breeding centers and production bases. , The use of modern animal breeding technology, feeding and management technology, disease prevention and control technology, raw milk quality monitoring technology, milk product processing technology and advanced industrial management concepts to improve the comprehensive benefits of China's dairy goats and achieved remarkable results. During the project period, they perfected and enriched the original goat dairy farm, breeding center, dairy goat production base, breeding sheep farms and demonstration sites, and dairy goat industrial technology network based on dairy processing plants. Breeding and comprehensive technical system has enabled the breeding scale of dairy goats production base to quickly reach 100,000, and the size of the core group has reached 10,000. The average amount of milk produced by the original ewes has reached 753.6 kg, and the milk production capacity of the breeding ground has been increased. Up to 705kg, the project team also carried out studies on the molecular mechanism of goat fatty acid metabolism, the pathogenesis and diagnostic kits of milk goat mastitis, artificial insemination and embryo transfer technology, and the feeding technology of dairy goats under humid and hot conditions. During the implementation of the project, it won the second prize of Shaanxi Province's agricultural technology promotion achievement. The selected “Wendeng dairy goat†passed the examination of the National Variety Resources Committee, became a national dairy goat breed, and developed 4 new goat milk products. And formulated seven milk goat production norms and standards. The average milk production capacity of basic ewes at the dairy goat production base in the project area has increased by 110kg, and 1.5 million low-yielding dairy goats have been improved. The average weight of young goats aged 9 months increased by 5-6kg. The average lambing rate of dairy goats reached 192%, and the average income increased by only 150 yuan. The direct economic benefits reached 700 million yuan. In addition, he published more than 40 academic research papers, applied for 13 national invention patents, and granted 4 patents.
The project's achievements were extended to dairy goat breeding areas in Shaanxi, Shandong, Yunnan, and Liaoning provinces, to Inner Mongolia, Henan, Hebei, Shanxi, Fujian, and Guangxi provinces. More than 100 technical training sessions were held and more than 100 technicians were trained. There were more than 30,000 farmer households, which effectively promoted the sustainable development of dairy goat industrialization in China and contributed to the promotion of regional economic development and increased farmers' income.
