Causes of low fertility in lean sows

Lean pigs have low fertility and are often confused by some farmers. There are mainly nine reasons for this:

One, too much energy feed, insufficient protein feed

Pigs are overgrown, follicles are difficult to form and discharge, and protein feeds are insufficient, especially animal feeds are severely deficient, leading to low fertility. The amount of energy feed should be reduced to a certain extent so that its sensation can be reduced to a level below the middle one. Adding 3% to 5% of high-quality fishmeal or other animal feed to the feed can increase its fertility.

Second, the long-term pure feed pure material, lack of green feed

Due to the lack of green material, vitamin deficiency, especially the lack of vitamins A and E, causes the quality of boar semen to decline, sows to reduce ovulation, and even infertility. Adding fresh young green feed can increase fertility.

Third, the lack of minerals, especially the lack of calcium or phosphorus or inappropriate proportion

Boar sperm deformity, sows difficult to form eggs, or the occurrence of stillbirth and miscarriage. The calcium and phosphorus content of the feed should be accounted for, and bone powder or calcium hydrogen phosphate should be added as required. The general dosage is 1% to 3%, and its fertility can be restored to normal.

Fourth, long-term imprisonment, lack of exercise and sunshine

In the absence of exercise, blood circulation is not smooth, and metabolism is not prosperous; in the absence of sunlight, calcium and phosphorus are absorbed and utilized, sperm and egg cells are difficult to form, and fecundity is reduced. Regular exercise and sun exposure can increase fertility.

V. Lactation is too long, resulting in excessive loss of sow physique

Traditionally sow sows in China are often weaned at 50 to 60 days of age, and the sow’s constitution is excessively depleted. After weaning, it usually takes 20 days or even 2 to 3 months before estrus, and only 1.8 to 2 litters are produced each year. If the piglet is taught 5 to 6 days of age to feed, it can be weaned when a large amount of compound feed is taken from 30 to 35 days, and more than 90% of the sows can be estrus after 7 to 10 days after weaning. Production of 2.2% to 2.3% nests, piglets can increase 15% to 20%.

Six, long-term isolation and feeding, lack of heterosexual stimulation

Boars can be placed in sows, stimulated by sow teasing, chasing, crawling, and so on, or by intramuscular injection of 1000 units of chorionic gonadotropin, which can promote sow follicle formation, ovulation, and estrus.

VII. There is no summer cooling facility

The most suitable ambient temperature for breeding pigs is 15°C~22°C. At this temperature, the breeding power is strong, there are more litters and the milk yield is higher. Therefore, summer must be shaded or showered to maintain its normal reproductive function.

8. Inbreeding

Inbreeding pigs have poor vitality and reproductive performance, have fewer litters, and often suffer from deformed, dead embryos, abortions, and body defects in piglets.

Nine, old age, sexual function decline

The fertility of sows is the highest among the second to fourth-born piglets, and the growth and development are also the best. From the fifth child, the senescence is degraded. Generally, the sows will be eliminated after the sixth child is born.

Magnetic Particles

Nanomicro Tech provides a series of magnetic particles with narrow size distribution and super-paramagnetism. These small magnetic particles have a resin core and an iron oxide layer sandwiched between the core and an outermost layer. The outermost layer of the particles is inorganic SiO2 or a functionalized polymer which completely covers iron oxide to prevent it from potentially incompatible interaction with biomaterials. These magnetic particles have a very good dispersity with well controlled particle size and narrow particle size distribution.
