Microfluidic early cancer filtering biochip
Because I recently reported an academic innovation, the story of the Ebola virus detector, so at first glance, it was attracted by this cancer detector.
For virus detection, nanoscale biochips are needed, which is more difficult, and cancer cell detection requires only micron. In addition, unlike the previously reported virus detection, the product has begun commercialization.
"The biochip is currently sold for a few hundred dollars, the US Arraystar has begun to act as agent, and another US company is also negotiating." Dr. Zhang Weiguo from the Chongqing Institute of Green Intelligent Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences revealed. The chip is said to have passed the clinical tests of Harvard Medical School and MIT, and is currently cooperating with the Fourth Medical University and Chongqing Medical College.
Most of the current cancer tests rely on "biopsy", which is costly and harms the patient. But this microfluidic early cancer filter biochip can be tested with a small amount of blood. Further, Dr. Zhang hopes to reduce the price of several hundred yuan to a few dollars in the future.
The biggest difficulty with this kind of biochip is that it can make such a small through hole without breaking. "We use a patented aerospace plastic material," Dr. Zhang revealed.
This test method is currently used to detect lung cancer and lymphoma, but in theory it has been possible to detect eight cancers.
In addition, because more than 20 cancer cells are larger than normal cells, if these cancer markers can be made one by one in the future, they can all be measured by this method. In addition, the institute has successfully developed a graphene transparent conductive film. Dr. Zhang revealed that the flexible e-book using the film will be launched at the end of this month.
