AQSIQ: Supervise producers to regulate the production of food additives

On July 12, 2010, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine issued the "Notice on Supervising Producers' Opinions on Regulating Production and Use of Food Additives (Guangguo Food Inspection and Supervision (2010) No. 383), stating clearly:

Regulating the production and use of food additives is an important part of the food safety work and an important task in the supervision of food safety in production and processing. Judging from the various problems discovered in food safety supervision work in recent years, food production and processing links have exceeded the scope of the standard and prescribed the use of additives in limited quantities (hereinafter referred to as “two super”). In order to implement the Food Safety Law and its implementation regulations and the State Council's plans for food safety rectification work, it is based on the “Regulations on the Administration of the Production of Food Additives” (AQSIQ Decree No. 127) and the Ministry of Health and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. The issuance of the "Notice on Strengthening the Supervision and Administration of Food Additives" (Guardian Supervision issued [2009] No. 89) requires the General Administration of Administration to put forward suggestions for further strengthening supervision. The local quality and technical supervision bureaus are required to integrate the local actual conditions and adopt comprehensive and coordinated monitoring measures in a targeted manner. By the end of 2010, they will strive to substantially curb the “two overshoots” of food production and processing.
