In the past, the artificial breeding of bullfrogs mainly used the traditional mode of free-range ponds and extensive feeding. Because of the rapid differentiation of individuals after becoming a baby frog, and the size and mutual eating habits of bullfrogs, there are many drawbacks in the size and grading of frogs and feeding. For this purpose, a set of high-density, high-density, high-yielding, frog-raising techniques for cages was developed in the production practice of Kelong Aquaculture Farm in Conghua City. The specific content of the technology is: the use of farmyard manure, wheat bran, etc. to cultivate earthworms, yellow mealworms, fly maggots, and then feed the box with bullfrogs and other frogs, cages set in fish ponds, frog excrement, worm manure can fertilizer farming fish. The method has the advantages of less land occupation, low cost, prevention of predators, high stocking density, rapid growth of bullfrogs, ease of management, and high comprehensive efficiency. The main technical measures are now described as follows:

Cage setup

The cage materials used to make farmed bullfrogs are required to have good ventilation and water permeability. They can be made of plastic mesh or screens. The specifications and shape of the cages should be adapted to local conditions. Generally, rectangles are preferred and the volume should not exceed 10 cubic meters. After the rice nets are sewed, bamboo or wood strips can be used to form a box frame, and the net sheet is fixed on it and fully opened. When setting up cages in ponds, foam panels or buoyant materials may be tied at a distance of 30 cm into the tank to ensure the stability of the water level in the tanks and to pull ropes at the shore to prevent winds from blowing.

Stocking density

Cage breeding bullfrogs should make full use of the water inside the box and can be raised in high density. The general stocking densities are: 300-500 tails per square meter, 150-200 heads per square meter for cubs, and 80-100 heads for adult frogs. After the bullfrog is put into the cage, the size of the frogs should be sorted in a box according to their growth speed, so as to avoid mutual loss of food and cause unnecessary losses.

Reasonable feeding

After the frogs are put in the box, one or more bait trays should be set in the box depending on the size of the box and the number of frogs. The daily feeding amount should be determined according to the size of the frog body, the climate change, and the water temperature. It is advisable to eat it after an hour of feeding. Under normal circumstances, feeding twice a day, 9-10 am and 5-6 pm each.

Disease prevention and disinfection

Due to the large stocking densities of caged bullfrogs and the clustering of frogs, frog farmers should effectively prevent and disinfect the disease. Generally, the bleaching powder solution with a concentration of 1 ppm should be used every 10 days for sprinkling and disinfecting the tanks. The frog body was bathed with a 02 ppm malachite green solution.
