This latest set of artificial intelligence systems has identified more than 100,000 photographs and accurately differentiated between malignant tumors and benign tumors. A medical team made up of experts from Germany, France, and the United States used it to distinguish between ordinary skin diseases and melanoma.
Some researchers said in the Journal of Oncology Yearbook that most dermatologists are not as accurate as this human intelligence system. The average doctor can diagnose 87% of melanomas through preliminary diagnosis. After getting more and more clear pictures and more detailed information, such as the patient's gender, age, and disease location, the diagnosis rate can be increased to 89%. However, artificial intelligence systems can only judge 95% of melanomas by analyzing photos.
Holger Hansen, professor of medicine at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, believes that artificial intelligence can accurately determine melanoma and avoid misdiagnosis. Treating black mole as melanoma can help patients reduce unnecessary surgery.
Artificial intelligence systems are an advantageous tool for researchers, but detecting skin cancer does not depend solely on it to abandon doctors. It must be used to help doctors make better judgments.
