Alias: Tiger Piran, Chitose Blue, Tiger Tail Palm, Jinlan
Family Genus: Agaveaceae, Tigerweed
Origin: Native African tropical and Indian
Morphological characteristics:
Sansevieria is a perennial succulent herb. Rhizomes with bracts, brown, semi-lignified, strong branches. Leaves emerging from underground stems, clustered, flat, erect, apex pointed, sword-shaped; leaf length 30 to 50 cm, width 4 to 6 cm, entire. The leaves are light green in color, with white and dark green horizontal and vertical clouds in the mask. They resemble tiger skins and have a thick layer of wax on the surface. The flowering period is generally November, with scent, and it is not strong enough.
Habits:
The tiger's-tail blue light can withstand direct sunlight and should be placed in a well ventilated sunny place. However, it can also resist yin, but the leaves will become dark under long-term shading conditions. At this time, if you suddenly move to the sun, the leaves will burn, so you should gradually adapt it.
Cultivation Management:
Usually placed in the shade or half shade, but also prefer the sun, only when the light is too strong, the leaf color will be darkened and white. Like warm temperatures. The suitable temperature is 18 to 27°C, and the growth is stopped below 13°C. The winter temperature can not be lower than 10°C for a long time, otherwise the plant will decay at the base and cause the whole plant to die.
Water should be moderate, not too wet. Sansevieria is a desert plant that is resistant to harsh environments and long drought conditions. The watering is too hard, the leaves turn white, and the color of the stripes is also faded. Growing from spring to autumn, it should be fully watered. During the winter dormancy period, watering should be controlled to keep the soil dry, and watering should be avoided to pour into the clusters. When using plastic pots or other decorative flower pots with poor drainage, be sure not to collect water so as not to cause decay and make the leaves fall down.
Fertilization should not be excessive. During the prosperous period, the fertilizer can be applied 1 to 2 times per month, and the amount of fertilizer should be less. Only applying nitrogen fertilizer for a long period of time, the markings on the leaves will become dull, so compound fertilizers are generally used. It is also possible to embed 3 holes of ripe soybeans in the potted soil, 7 to 10 grains per hole, taking care not to touch the roots. The fertilization was stopped from November to March of the following year.
Strict requirements on the soil, can also grow normally in a small volume of soil, like loose sand and humus, resistant to drought and thin. The growth is very strong, even if it is covered with pots does not inhibit its growth. The pots are changed once every two years, in spring, and standard compost can be used when changing basins.
Common cultivars are:
